"What we do in this life echoes in eternity!"

The church is not a meeting we attend or a program we are a part of...
...the church is a community we belong to!

Christianity is not a dead, comfortable religion...
...it is a relationship with a living God!

Following Jesus is not about rules that have to be enforced...
...but an inner drive to become like Him!

Being a Christian is not not about praying a prayer so you go to heaven when you die...
...it is about the kingdom of God here on earth, near and available to all who desire it!

Christianity is not a religion, a cult, a fad or fashion...
...in its truest form, it is a complete, total, 100% way of life!

About Our Name:

Elysium (pronounced "ee-lee-see-um") is a word that comes from Greek mythology. It means "heaven" or "paradise" and was the place that a righteous hero or warrior would go after this life. In the movie Gladiator it is mentioned by Maximus, the Roman general and main character in the story. As he rallies his men for battle he tells them, "What we do in this life echoes in eternity!" He further encourages them by reminding them that their place in eternity (Elysium) was secure and inspires them to fight fiercly because, "You are already dead!". Our pastor used this clip in a sermon to illustrate that we should "give our lives with reckless abandon" because as followers of Jesus our place in eternity is secure and we are "dead to the world". Truly what we do in this life will echo in eternity and we at Elysium want our actions to be a shout and not a whisper of all that we did in bringing glory to our God!
